Double Delight For St. Finbarr’s GFC Teams

Sunday 15th September, was a momentous day in St. Finbarr’s GFC history when both our ladies and intermediate men’s teams finished the perfect season by taking home the Championship and league double.

Ladies Team

The Championship final rounded off a season unheard of in Gaelic football, a team that went unbeaten in all competitions all year. They cliched the league title back at the end of July with 2 games of the leagues still to play. The Championship final was a hardly fought contest throughout and at the interval the sides were level. But in the second half the ladies steadied the ship and with two goals in quick succession made it difficlut for Western Shamorocks to come back. The final score was St. Finbarrs 3-10 v 2-8 Western Shamrocks. It’s been a long year for the ladies and their manager, Tony McVeigh (Tyrone), but the hard work and determination paid off in the end.
